Bite-Sized Blender Classes Now Offered @ Builder's Brewery!

Builder's Brewery
Hello, all!

As a long-time group member of Builder's Brewery, I just happened to see an interesting notice this past week about bite-sized Blender classes now being offered for free!  Making mesh is pretty much the bread and butter of any designer who wants to create the most desirable things in SL (and, of course, it's super cool that you can now utilize mesh locally).  ...So, of course, I had to check it out, and I can say now that I think you should too!  :D

Blender Benders

As you may know, I had been trying for a long time to be a part of the Blender Benders classes, but have always seemed to find it way too overwhelming and inconvenient (despite those teachers being uber nice by offering to somewhat work with me on a reasonable, individual basis, and allowing me to make up classes).  See, their classes start during the holidays, and not only do I work retail, but that's usually the time I have to fill out a massive recertification packet... Blech.  I have tried taking the very first class a few times now, and cannot think of anything to do with Suzanne, other than smashing her into bits and pieces, LOL!  ...So I thought to myself, "Why not try the Builder's Brewery classes, and then once that's set, if I still want, I can go back to Blender Benders?"  \m/

Blender
I don't have any regrets!  The Builder's Brewery 1st class is EXTREMELY easy.  Everyone is literally just figuring out how to maneuver their creations inside the Viewport and learning the terminology.  That's it!  It's about an hour and 1/2.  And you learn the correct way to upload your very first Blender cube!  ...Easy-peasy!

When you go to the Builder's Brewery landing point, make sure to join their group and touch their sign about Bite-Sized Blender classes, so you can get a very informative folder with some information that may look very much like mine...

This first NC is put together by Forth Shepherd and is called "Bite-sized Blender: Frequently-Asked Questions"

~~~~~~~~~~~       BITE-SIZED BLENDER FAQs     ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The new series of BITE-SIZED BLENDER classes will begin at the Builder's Brewery in January 2023.
Read on to learn more about them.
1. WHAT IS BLENDER?
Blender is the software commonly used to create mesh objects for use in Second Life. It is available for download free of charge at https://www.blender.org/download.
Blender is a powerful package with a big learning curve. At Builder's Brewery, we offer classes at several different levels for anyone who wants to learn to use Blender for their own creations.
Bite-sized Blender is a new set of lessons at Builder's Brewery, suitable for anyone who has never used Blender before.
We have divided these Beginners' lessons into several small independent units, which you can take at any time.
There are units at three levels.
After completing both units, you receive the Builder's Brewery Blender Level One Certificate of Achievement
205: Upload your model to SL and set its Levels of Detail (one lesson)
After completing all units, you receive the Builder's Brewery Blender Level Two Certificate of Achievement
4. WHAT DO I NEED BEFORE I CAN START BITE-SIZED BLENDER LESSONS?
Before starting these lessons, you should do two things.
A. INSTALL BLENDER ON YOUR HOME COMPUTER
    1. Open your browser to download the file via this link...
    2. If you're running Windows 10 or 11, get the INSTALLER version (it's an .msi file), not the Portable (.zip).
        Mac users are ok to download from the main download page.
    3. When the download is complete, use it to install Blender.
        Open Blender and check that you see the splash screen, like this
(This link shows the splash screen for Blender version 3.3.1. If you are using a different version, it will look a bit different.)
B.  GET PERMISSION TO UPLOAD MESH OBJECTS TO SECOND LIFE
    1. Check your account on the SL website (go to Account -> Mesh Upload Status).
    2. Follow the steps as shown, until you see this on your Mesh Upload Status...
5. DO I NEED TO TAKE THE UNITS IN ANY PARTICULAR ORDER?
You can take any unit whenever it is being taught, but you should not take a unit unless you have already taken the necessary preceding units.
This diagram shows the sequencing of units which you should follow.
The Best Things in [Second] Life Are Free!
So, success...
Lilith and Samael of Zamargad achieved their goal of packing up countless prims and pieces of their homestead sim, logging all the building coordinates, downsizing to the smallest parcel on Zamargad (where our store used to be), and making the ground not only palatable for possible neighbors (but us as well)!  ZI is phenomenal!
We even followed thru on honoring our Dedicated Batling Promotion, and updated the webby a bit too.
I've also been working really hard lately to try and make some L$ in SL because of my current RL financial budget.  I diligently spent all day playing Alienum to make at least L$200!
...But wouldn't you know I had to take a break and go to Toady's awesome scripting class?  I didn't even know such a wonderful building teacher (of almost 12 years) would let us in on such trade secrets!  And just between you and me, Toady never turns away a student for lack of funds.  That's a REAL teacher, someone who leads by example with virtue.
My ♥ to you, Toady!
Beth Odets
And after that, my awesome friend, Beth Odets, just happened to be doing a show with Bat Masters (and some other lady I'm not too familiar with, sorry)!  WheEeEe!!  Bethie is my hero!  I love all of her songs, but I particularly love "Pinnochio" and "Meaty White Stallion" LOL!
Beth Odets rocks!
...Now I asked Beth if it would be okay to go to her show to support her, even tho I really don't have any L$ for a tip.  At first, I got a typical facetious Beth answer of something like, "What?  You have no money?  No, you mean nothing to me now!  ...LOL."  But she reassured me like a million times, that if it ever got to be that bad, all I had to do was ask her and she'd even give me some L$ to tip the venue.  ...I'm just so very, like, "wow," and grateful for all the wonderful and kind friends I have in SL!
Simon Linden sat down next to me!
And you know something?  I'm very glad I went.  Because Simon Linden decided to show up again!  And he fucking sat right next to me OMG!!!
And although I'm pretty sure it was to sit somewhere and maybe control lag... We still smokem peace pipe together, wewt!
Simon Linden & I
I've touched his hat before, but I had to do it again!  LOL
Not only that, but I studied his profile again.
He likes DarkStar too!  That's what inspired my butterfly dome!
...Too bad that place is gone now(?), OMG, I just found that out when I saw the "Loading..." pick of it in his profile!  *inserts a HUGE sad face here*
Whatever you do, don't touch his hat!
It's weird seeing a Linden, like almost seeing the president or the king or something!  Here's a pic of him actually walking on water (LMAO, at the Surfside Hideaway)!  But I know that for real, he probably just goes to shows to relax and unwind.  Maybe be more at one with the residents.  We all laughed together, and had a great time.
Simon Linden Bear
Afterward, I was inspired to visit Denby.  I found all kinds of fun things at his house there, like a "SL Population Meter" that I was able to snag a copy of... A funny object that counted the mere time someone last mentioned "Sansar" ...And even found myself on a "Simon Linden Bear" hunt!
I tell you what... hunting for that rare bear took me to a few different awesome places, and I REALLY enjoyed that hunt very, very much!
So I wanted to let you know that it is worth it.  There are definitely priceless things you can find for free in SL.  It's not all about snobbery, money, and tunnel vision.  It's about the spirit of things.  You just have to know where to look for these treasures.
...But I still don't know how I got so lucky...  Thank you!  ♥
The SL Botanical Gardens
My favorite place, been here since my rez.  :)
I even found an OLD promo pic for Beth Odets here!
This is what the description used to say:
The SL Botanical Gardens, 1
A collaborative garden and nature park.   Come explore, relax, meditate, hang out with friends or just soothe your weary soul.  Ride the gondola, commune with Buddha, discover the secret Mermaid grotto and hug a tree or two on this full-s
But now it says:
The SL Botanical Gardens, 2
The oldest full-sim public garden in Second Life! Come and enjoy a leisurely stroll through the trees and plants from many of SL’s most well-known creators. Tour the sim in a gondola and dance under the stars with your sweetheart.
